Agreed. I think '82 was the last really solid year for the reasons you mention, and with most shows after '82 I just find it hard to get past Jerry's declining vocals. I know there's a lot of great playing in later years too, but the sound of the band and Jerry's vocals detract from the enjoyment too much for me.

I like 83 alot, but it's starting to happen, 84 and 85 can be tough listens sometimes...89 to March 90 or so is the last period where Garcia's playing is top notch, so much so it can overcompensate for the vocal strain...
